Halloween Fun

The children in Nursery enjoyed dressing up for Halloween and having some spooky fun this week.  We read ‘Squash the Spider’ and then found out about spiders.  The children made spiders in the dough area and counted their legs.  They also developed their fine motor skills threading wool onto card, to make spider webs, .  We explored pumpkins by carving a real pumpkin and looking at what we found inside.  The children made their own pumpkins using 2D shapes for the face.  We also developed out hand eye coordination by hammering golf tees into a pumpkin.  We made delicious pumpkin soup and tasted it at snack time.  After reading ‘What’s in the Witches Kitchen?’  we made potions, magic wands and played magic spell memory games.  It was a very busy but enjoyable week.
