This half term in Music, the Year 5 children have been focusing on drumming. The topic was inspired by the Rio Carnival so the children have been learning all about Brazilian culture. They played the surdo drums, keeping a steady pulse, whilst playing a rhythm on the agogo. The tamborim and ganza were finally introduced to add texture to the music, creating an authentic samba song. The children were excited to experiment with Samba instruments and enjoyed learning to play traditional carnival music. It was then time to share their performance with a real audience who reacted with delight. The children did an amazing job and rose to the occasion.
