The children in year 4 got to take part in their sports day this week once the weather finally improved. It was a fantastic and fun filled afternoon of individually competitive and team events. The children were placed into four teams and took part in individual races such as the sprint, hurdles, egg and spoon, skipping and laps of the field. The team events included the relay, javelin, long jump, throwing and penalty shoot out. All of the children took part with such enthusiasm and showed excellent support and encouragement of each other. Throughout the afternoon, there were many impressive individual performances, but even more examples of determination and perseverance by children who wanted to do the best they possibly could for their team. Our school sports week concluded with the nomination of eight children for individual awards based on the Olympic principles of Excellence, Inspiration, Courage, Determination, Respect, Equality and Friendship. There was an additional award for the school rules of Ready, Respectful and Safe. Well done to the children who deservedly won those awards, and a huge well done to all of year 4 who can be proud of their attitude and achievements during sports week.
