Wild winds this afternoon but we are lucky to still have some sheltered woodland to explore. Some children tried a quick build challenge to make a house for a mouse. You can see that their builds are starting to take shape. The children are now beginning to plan ahead and select materials with more thought. They could explain their intentions and happy accidents are always welcome. Making a fallen stick into a slide perhaps? Some flattened out their designs to avoid it being blown down by the wind, lots to think about and much fun to be had in the Forest School today.
Principle 1: Forest School is a long-term process of frequent and regular sessions in a woodland or natural environment, rather than a one-off visit. Planning, adaptation, observations and reviewing are integral elements of Forest School.
