Our celebration of nature continues at Angel Court. The children and residents used plants they had found in the garden to print with on a large collective piece of art. They could use paintbrushes and pens to add detail. Maisie doesn’t like getting her hands dirty so she directed proceedings. The children were encouraged to really examine the plants and interpret the specific parts into the design. As their work was drying they then used the remaining foliage to create placement pictures on sun-sensitive paper. These were then placed outside in the sun. After some time the foliage and feathers were removed and the paper was immersed in water to activate it. Miss Rowe and Tom hung the pictures out to dry.
We stopped for refreshments, this week coronation themed cookies, then moved onto the final task using the foliage to create woven boards. A very busy afternoon visiting friends.
Principle 2: Forest School takes place in a woodland or natural wooded environment to support the development of a relationship between the learner and the natural world.
