Last week in Art, the children were introduced to a new artistic method called batik.
The children completed a reading exercise to find out more information about batik, including how long it has been used for and in what countries it originated from. Then, we moved on to investigating how different materials can be deconstructed (using methods such as ripping, tearing, pulling, twirling, cutting) and how materials can be reconstructed.
The children were given the task of creating a aerial view of a river landscape, as our topic title for this term is ‘River of Life’, using different materials that they had deconstructed. The children were very creative in their approach to their artwork, with some children choosing to collage their materials and others choosing to create a 3D design.
