This week in Reception, we have been learning all about snails. The boys and girls have enjoyed collecting objects from our outdoor area to make a safe home for snails. We have also had some fantastic independent writing about snail facts.

The boys and girls read the story Oliver’s Vegetables and talked about the vegetables that Oliver tried from his Grandpa’s vegetable patch. The children tried some cooked and raw vegetables and talked about which vegetable was their favourite. We made a tally chart of everyone’s favourite vegetable.

The boys and girls have enjoyed learning about the artist Andy Goldsworthy, we talked about how he uses natural objects to create sculptures. After reading the story ‘What the Ladybird Heard’ we also talked about the natural objects that you would find on a farm. The boys and girls then went outside

After reading the book ‘What the Ladybird Heard’ the boys and girls have enjoyed carrying out some activities based around the book. We have painted paper plate ladybirds and designed our very own version of the map that ‘Hefty Hugh and Lanky Len’ used to try and steal the fine prize cow!

The boys and girls have thoroughly enjoyed helping Bob in our outdoor area to make a ‘miniature garden.’ The new feature looks fantastic and we are very excited to develop the area with the children’s ideas.
