Grendel Character Description
This week, the children have been working hard on writing character descriptions of Grendel.
In preparation for their descriptions, Year 5 have spent the past two weeks writing sentence stackers using expanded noun phrases, parenthesis, fronted adverbials and relative clauses. These provided a useful resource for the children to refer back to when writing their final descriptions.
The children used their understanding of the monstrous beast from Michael Morpurgo’s adaptation of Beowulf to create some extremely vivid (and frightening!) descriptions. They then carefully wrote up their finished descriptions, ready to be displayed as a booklet in the classroom.
