Incredible Information Technology

In Computing, Year Two have learned that Information Technology (IT) is a computer or something that works with a computer.

To begin, the children learned the importance of protecting their identity online, using avatars. The children explored a range of avatars and discussed which were safer and why. They concluded that avatars that are unlike someone's appearance are the most effective, because they don't give away any personal information.

Next, the boys and girls looked at a range of devices. They had to identify which were examples of Information Technology and which were not. They quickly identified a tablet, laptop and computer, but found other devices (e.g. a printer and a projector) trickier to name.

Finally, Year Two thought about the IT they use in school. They sorted devices into groups depending on what they are used for. For example, a projector can be used to do a job, a tablet to communicate with people and a laptop to play on.
