Happy Harvest!

This afternoon, Harlow Green celebrated Harvest Festival in the hall.

In Music assemblies this half term, the children have all been singing some songs related to Harvest such as ‘Cauliflowers Fluffy’, ‘Harvest Rock and Roll’ and ‘Harvest for the World’. In the Harvest Festival, they had a chance to perform these songs to one another. The choir also sang ‘Autumn Days’ for the rest of the school. It was also lovely to have a performance by the violinists in Year Six. What a fantastic way to celebrate! Thank-you to all of our wonderful singers and musicians, as well as the Year Six children who spoke so confidently about why we celebrate Harvest.

This year, Harlow Green is supporting the charity Feeding Families. Feeding Families is a charity based in North East England that offers support, hope and security to those experiencing food insecurity. They work alongside schools, mental health nurses and GPs to support those who are experiencing food poverty. They provide ‘Emergency Food Boxes’ with enough food to support up to 2 people for 3 days. They also work to provide ‘Welcome Home Boxes’ for people who leave hospital. This includes the elderly, those with poor mental and physical health, homeless and people temporarily without money for various reasons.  This year, the charity has already distributed 1,040,292 food items to those who need it. We have asked for donations to come into school this week. Thank-you for all of the donations so far. There’s still time to bring these in!

Happy harvest!
