Our Forest School came alive with the sound of music this week. Inspired by the children, who can often be found banging out rhythms on the odd tree stump. The children were given free reign with the resources to create their own instruments, with some fantastic results. The poly tunnel was raided for pots to be made into shakers, gravel, seeds and even pine-cones were used inside. Lots of drum kits were set up, from cardboard to logs and even our bin which made a great sound and was just the right height.
The children experimented with different materials to make beaters, they tried to recognise the difference between dry sticks and green sticks with their eyes closed. We even had some guitars, finally at the end of the session everyone gathered together for a big band performance.
