During a glorious summer afternoon at Cardinal Hume School, Harlow Green’s Year 3 tennis team’s training over the last year culminated in them competing in one of two Gateshead competitions.
Over the three hours, the boys and girls were pitted against five other primary schools and played matches as well as skill-based activities. Each activity they were involved with, as individuals or in teams, led to points being tallied until a final overall score was totalled.
The children were extremely well-behaved throughout, demonstrated great sportsmanship but also had fun applying themselves to the best of their ability. They all won matches individually and also used the skills they had built up over time to work as a team.
The icing on the cake (which is fitting as we had two children who were celebrating their birthday!) was that Harlow Green came out on top and won the event! The children are rightly very proud of themselves and so they should be after the hard work and dedication they showed when attending the tennis club. Once we receive them, the children will be awarded with medals and certificates to remember the day and their achievements.
