This term in Science in Year 5, we have been learning all about Earth in space. We know all about the planets, why we have night and day, and even why we have seasons! The next thing we needed to learn was why we have time zones. We had lots of questions about why we change our watches when we go on holiday, and how the shape and rotation of the Earth are why we do it!
The work we did was very cross curricular: we studied the physical reasons behind time zones as part of Science, but we also looked at atlases to find different countries in each time zone, and we used clocks to calculate the time in each time zone!
We enjoyed the cross curricular nature of our work, and we can’t wait to show off our knowledge the next time someone we know goes to another country!
