Operation Encompass visited the Year 6 children. Operation Encompass is a new innovative project which Northumbria Police is running in partnership with schools through out the force area.
The project aims to safeguard and support children and young people who are involved in, or affected by, incidents involving domestic abuse. The children were spoken to about secrets that aren’t healthy to keep and they heard stories about how keeping secrets can cause children to change their behaviour. The focus was on how children can be supported and that, by telling someone if there is an issue, help can be provided. The children were incredibly mature and sensible in conversations and in the questions that they asked.
