Year 5 have had a wonderful day celebrating World Book Day. This morning, the children’s work centred around the picture book ‘Can I Build Another Me?’ by Shinsuke Yoshitake which focuses on what makes a child individual. After hearing the book read aloud, the children thought about what was individual about them and created a profile about themselves, in the style of the book. A thoroughly enjoyable experience for us all was when the Year 5 children read books with the children in Year 1. This allowed the children to show their nurturing and responsible attitude towards younger children, whilst showcasing their reading skills. This afternoon, they designed a front cover for ‘The World’s Greatest Book’ for a school competition. Staff and children alike have all enjoyed their day!
