Grammar Focus

Writing Task
Your task is to write the ending for the story we read on Monday (The Runaway Iceberg). Remind yourself of the story so far by reading it again.
You will need to decide what the penguins are going to try to do to get home (be as imaginative as you like!).
What I’m Looking For:
- An exciting resolution to the penguins’ problem
- Start the ending of your story with “All of a sudden”
- A clear ending
- Expanded noun phrases (describing words and nouns, e.g. the enormous iceberg)
- Suffixes (-ing, -ed, -er, -ful and -less)
- A variety of sentence starters

Reading and Phonics
Children should spend 20 minutes at least three times per week using Lexia or Reading Plus.
Some children should take part in daily phonics from Ruth Miskin (this may be good for a recap of their phonics knowledge!)
Maths
In Maths, we will spend the week focusing on a particular topic e.g. shape or place value. Activities will then be set on Mathletics that are based upon this subject.
Topic – Measurement (Length and Height)
This week, we will be learning about position and direction.
Each day, work through the PowerPoint and then complete the activities.
