In Art, the children in Year 4 have been practising and improving their sketching skills. Firstly, we have experimented with different pencil marks and how we can use them to create shading effects. The children loved split cross-hatching and wood effect mark making. Following this, we have used the different mark making techniques to practise realistic drawings of objects such as a feather and tree branch. Finally, the children have drawn a detailed sketch of an enlarged image. To do this, we have experimented with colour too. The children have created some fantastic sketches and we have enjoyed looking at the range of techniques that the children have begun to use.
