In English, Year 6 have been reading the book ‘Friend or Foe’ by Michael Morpurgo. They have explored the characters and looked at the life of evacuees – exploring how they would feel and how life would be different in the countryside compared to the city. The children have been taking part in a new writing process in school – having sentence stacker sessions where they learn discreet sentence structures and formats and then trying to use these within their written work. The children have worked hard during these sessions to come up with interesting vocabulary and then to use this to engage the reader in a letter home from an evacuee and in the opening of a newspaper report.
