This week in DT, the children in Year 6 have made a working Morse Code transmitter. Firstly, they had to find out what a Morse Code transmitter did. After this, they designed their product. The children remembered how to create a circuit using their knowledge from Science and applied this knowledge to design a switch. They also used their maths knowledge to draw nets for the outer casing. When it came to making the product, the children learnt that care needed to be taken with the dimensions of the nets and also joining the product together. Great fun was had with the working Morse code transmitters and their buzzing. The children made thoughtful evaluations of their products and had good ideas as how they might improve their design if they were to make it again.
