This week, it has been lovely to see the enthusiasm with which children have shared books that they received for Christmas, or that they read over the holidays. All of the children from across the school were asked to share the book either with their friends, or with the whole class and talk a little bit about what they had enjoyed. There was a huge variety of picture books, chapter books, annuals and non-fiction books. The teachers were really impressed with the understanding that children showed about the books that they had chosen. Mr Malik also enjoyed discussing Sherlock Holmes with a child in Year 3 and The Ballard of the Songbird and the Snakes with a child in Year 6 – both books that he has enjoyed reading too.
