Henri Matisse
Nursery is really enjoying practicing their scissor skills and cutting up paper. This led to us looking at the artist ‘Matisse’, his artwork was loved by the children. We had lots of discussions ‘it does not look like a snail’, ‘why are there lots of colours?’ Some children could only see shapes. They then went on to create their own snail artwork, carefully snipping the paper into shapes and placing them onto the paper. We have been practicing the skill of glueing around the page and putting single pieces of paper down, rather than creating a pile of materials onto the paper and them falling off.
