Year One have been learning all about Christian churches. They have learnt what happens in a church and features of a church both inside and outside. On Wednesday everyone was really excited to visit St. Ninian’s church in Low Fell. Both classes walked down to the church showing extremely respectful behaviour along the way. Once there, we were greeted by Reverend George. He welcomed us into the church and we all sat on the pews. The children were fascinated to learn about the different parts of the church. They learnt about the font, the altar, the lectern, the organ and the nave. They even learnt that instead of stained-glass windows, St. Ninian’s church is decorated with banners depicting stories from the Bible. Everyone had a fantastic time.
