In class the children have been learning about the Holi Festival of Colour, today’s exploration activity encouraged them to really observe the nuances of colour in the natural world. They set off in teams, each with a collecting bag containing a selection of paint colour cards, the challenge, to see who could achieve the closest colour matches. They explored the entire Forest School during their investigations and were amazed at how many different shades of green they found, let alone all the other colours!
The confidence and independence they are now demonstrating shows the progress they have made in their Forest School sessions. Once they had completed this activity they were given time to play freely in the Forest School. Tyre swings, wobble boards they made themselves, climbing, building and of course sharing a snack with their friends. What a busy afternoon of forest fun.
Principle 2: Forest School takes place in a woodland or natural wooded environment to support the development of a relationship between the learner and the natural world.
