What a long way Year 2 have come in their Forest School journey. This morning they were totally immersed in the woodland. Building dens, creating games, planning and building bug houses, sharing skills, building new relationships, becoming leaders, the list goes on. More than all these things though is the utter joy on their faces as they forgot all the stresses of the world and played together.
During reflection the children talked about working with different people. It wasn’t formerly planned, it just seemed to happen organically, but they said it was really exciting and funny. We tried to work out why it had happened today in particular, their response: “It kind of just happened.” Many children worked on more than one project, successfully navigating different friendship groups is not easy but their maturity and supportive approach was abundant.
Principle 2: Forest School takes place in a woodland or natural wooded environment to support the development of a relationship between the learner and the natural world.
