Today, Year 5 were lucky enough to go on a school trip to the Centre for Life! The exhibitions currently on link closely to our Science topic of Space, and so the children were very excited to learn more!
They took part in a workshop all about surviving in space, and the staff of the centre helped them to understand the best materials for a space suit, what astronauts eat in space, and even how they go to the toilet! This thrilled and repulsed the children in equal measure! We also looked at the Gaia exhibition, which was essentially a version of Earth that looked giant to us, but was tiny compared to the real thing! We were able to walk under, around and above it to work out which was the best view (and to try and spot where we’ve all been on holiday!). The Planetarium was also very exciting for the children (and staff!), as it gave them, a further insight into the hunt for alien life!
All of the children had an absolutely fantastic time, and they’re now even more Space-mad than before!
