The the Year 3 Tennis Club is now in its third week of training. With an eye on the Gateshead tournament scheduled for the summer term, the squad has started working hard to learn the two main shots required to hit the ball over the net – forehand and backhand.
The children have been learning that control and technique are essential, rather than power, and that each small component needs to be remembered and implemented to get the shots right. This, of course, takes time but the children have already made great progress in their consistency and accuracy.
In addition to practising hitting the ball, the children have been involved in games where they can develop speed and footwork but also simply have fun!
Fantastic effort and attitude from everyone!
