All this term we have been reading “Stone Girl, Bone Girl”, a story about the life of Mary Anning. Everyone has enjoyed listening to her heroic tale and has learnt so much about her life and her amazing discovery. We decided to write newspaper reports about her excavation of an Ichthyosaurus. Firstly, we planned our articles and thought about effective sentences that we could use. We even added pictures to our plans. Then the children were really brave and tried to write independently. They had to remember to use capital letters, full stops, adjectives and even a simile. All of the teachers were astonished by the quality of writing. Have a look at our work below.
