In music this half term, Year Six have been developing melodic phrases to compose music within an ensemble. The children worked in groups and were able to organise themselves so that they had a conductor and six musicians playing different notes on the Boomwhackers. The conductor created a steady pulse of four beats, using previous knowledge of time signatures. The group then created a simple chorus which was led by the conductor. When the coloured dot was pointed to, the correct Boomwhacker was played. Next week, the children will compose their own verse and will add layers of sound by playing them together.
