Over the past two weeks, children in Year 5 have been investigating different filming techniques and camera positions. Last week, the children practiced using a close up, middle and long shot, as well as a side by side shot and moving object shot. This week, the children were introduced to the ‘fixed camera’ position, meaning they had to keep the camera still whilst filming.
Children worked in pairs to apply different filming techniques (such as long shot, close up and zoom) whilst their partner read from a script. We discussed how the audio is effected the further away the speaker is from the filming device. We evaluated which shot would be best in certain scenarios and the children will be applying this knowledge when they begin to create their own video!
