As part of their DT work, this week, the year 6 children enjoyed working with Chef Nick. The children worked in groups to help to prepare and cook dishes with an American theme – jambalaya and gumbo. The chef shared information about life in America, typical American foods and healthy eating. Although lots of them were not healthy, it was interesting to learn about some American dishes. The children used knives to cut and dice food for the dishes and there were some excellent choppers. At the end, all of the children got a chance to taste the dishes; there were some very happy diners! Hopefully, the skills the children learned will help them to cook their families in the near future.
