Across this term, Year 5 have been investigating programming in Scratch. Previously, the children set conditions using ‘IF, THEN, ELSE’ functions and used different true or false outcomes such as changing the colour of a sprite, changing the background and changing the size of different characters.
Over the course of our lessons, the children have created their own quizzes using ‘IF, THEN, ELSE’ and different outcomes. The children came up with their own question to be answered. If the correct answer was typed in, the true outcome would occur. If anything else was typed into the answer box, the false outcome would occur. The children enjoyed investigating the different sprites on offer in Scratch and used different techniques such as sound and appearance when setting the outcomes.
