This afternoon, Year One were so lucky to have visitors from Animal Encounters.
Firstly, they introduced the topic of dinosaurs and explained how they lived thousands of years ago but now they are extinct. The children listened carefully to the possible explanation, including a meteor or a volcanic eruption, about how the dinosaurs died out. Next, our visitors explained how animals today are related to dinosaurs. The children had the opportunity to handle and stroke a variety of reptiles, including Cherry the tortoise, Rosie the boa, Banana the python, Thor and Spike the geckos, and Yuri and Minky the lizards. The children were really brave, especially when Thor the gecko decided to shed his skin. We all had a lot of fun!
