Visit to the People’s Kitchen

Today, our Key Stage 2 Rights Respect Officers visited the People’s Kitchen in Newcastle.  They met a volunteer who gave them a tour and described how they support adults in the local area.  They found out that in 1995, a lady called Alison Kay had an idea to provide food for people who were unable to provide for themselves. The People’s Kitchen has since grown into the organisation that it is today.  The People’s Kitchen is grateful for the huge number of donations of food, toiletries and clothes that they receive.  The children enjoyed the tour of the kitchen, storerooms and office and asked the volunteers lots of thoughtful questions.  The officers understand the importance of the charity to the local community.
