For the past two weeks in maths, Year Six have been learning about fractions.
To begin with, the children realised that they needed to use their knowledge of multiples and factors in order to find equivalent fractions and simplify fractions. The children went on to learn how to convert mixed numbers to improper fractions and vice versa. Adding and subtracting fractions was the next learning with all of the children keen to show how fast they could add and subtract fractions using common denominators. We ended this week adding and subtracting mixed fractions which required several steps. It was great to see the confidence of the children grow as they learnt to follow the required steps.
