Before the Easter holidays, during the author visit, we were introduced to the story of Macbeth when Chris Connaughton acted out the whole play single-handedly. The children enjoyed the performance and got an insight into the story .
Over the last two weeks, we have looked at the opening scenes where Macbeth won the battle; met the witches on the heath and talked to Lady Macbeth at the castle. The children have been putting themselves into role as Macbeth and imagining what it would be like to have such a dilemma. It has been interesting to hear their views about whether ‘murder’ could ever be justified. They have also considered the character of Lady Macbeth and how she is portrayed during this stage in the play. We look forward to reading their diaries next week when they have to bring all of this understanding to life.
