Down at the Farm

This week Nursery have been looking at the topic of farms.

We read the story ‘Farmyard Hullaballoo’ which talked us through lots of different farmyard animals. We then listened to a song about the jobs that farmers have to do every day – it looked very tiring!

The children had time to explore a variety of different farm objects . We thought about what they could be used for, smelt them and took turns looking at them. We had:
Hay
Two types of sheep’s wool
Lamb and sheep food
Barley
Cow rosettes for 1st and 2nd place on show
Horse shoes
Bulls horns
Bottle teats for feeding the lambs
Tablet feeder
Hoof cleaning tools
Horse halter

We also had the opportunity to milk a cow too! we used a finger and thumb to milk the cow’s udder to collect milk in the bowl.
