Today, 20 children from years 3, 4 and 5 took part in the annual Gateshead Athletics Festival at Gateshead International Stadium.
It is always a fantastic day of sport and excellence from over 40 schools across Gateshead, and this year, with a few downpours dotted in between, we came home with two gold medals and a bronze. Well done to our jumper, thrower and hurdler for their medal successes!
Sadly the relay finals couldn’t take place because of rain delays and we had two teams in those so our medal tally could have been higher. With our Year 6 year groups away on residential, we took extra year 5 children who had the tough time of competing against mostly year 6 children from other schools – however this was a great opportunity for them to get ready for next year when they may get the chance to go again!
It is always a day filled with emotions but this just shows us how passionate and committed the children are towards taking part and doing their best. We are extremely proud of all of them and know that in every event, they put in 100% effort.
