Friend or Foe

Over the last week, Year 6 have continued to read and investigate the characters and plot within their English novel – Friend or Foe by Michael Morpurgo.

The children have been enjoying the text and there has been much discussion about the characters and how they would feel at different parts in the story. It is difficult for the children to really contemplate being evacuated and the impact the war had, but they have been asking interesting questions and have really tried to take the role of the main character, David. This week has seen them writing his diary and having to think about his emotions at different parts. The hardest part was probably completing ‘conscience alley’ where they had to consider his dilemma and think about whether they would do the right or the wrong thing.
