This week in Reception, the parents were invited to a workshop with information about Early Years. The children came along to the workshop and enjoyed sitting with their adult to complete some activities in their new home learning bags. All of the activities in the home learning bags are designed to support Literacy, fine motor and mathematical skills. Some of the activities the children could have had a go at include:
-Threading pasta onto string
-Cutting playdough, art straws and card with scissors
-Manipulating the playdough into balls or sausage shapes
-Mark making patterns
-Crayons for colouring in
By completing the activities on a regular basis, the children will strengthen their muscles so that they can perform tasks that require fine motor skills such as, gripping a pencil and having a go at mark-making.
In addition, we covered the importance of Phonics and what to expect from Phonics in Reception. Each pack contains words as well as how to form letters.
We hope those who attended the workshop found the information beneficial to the development of their child. We look forward to seeing the children enjoy using their activity bags as part of their home learning.
