Year 1 Get Creative

It was a beautiful crisp sunny day for Year 1’s Forest School session.  First some games of Sticky Feet with our Year 6 outdoor workers, this game is fun but also encourages the children to think about characteristics of different creatures or plants. It also helps to establish boundaries and team work. Then the children got very busy making music from random objects, they made some great beats. Some children worked with Mr. McMann collecting leaves, always fun to jump in big leaf piles. Others did more close hand work creating tree decorations from wool and willow. They worked and played together well, some moved from group to group others preferred to stay on one job.

The Long-Term Principle: Forest School is a long-term process of frequent and regular sessions in a woodland or natural environment, rather than a one-off visit. Planning, adaptation, observations and reviewing are integral elements of Forest School.
