In Reception this week, we welcomed a special visitor. A lady from Dogs Trust came to teach the children all about being safe around dogs and understanding their body language. She taught the children how to ask the owner’s and the dog’s permission to be stroked, this is especially important for children to remember if they see a dog when they are outside or if they are meeting a dog in a home environment. The children had the chance to role-play with a partner using a toy dog.
The children were thoroughly engaged during the session and enjoyed talking about their own experiences with dogs, colouring in dog pictures and playing with the dog in the home corner.
