The various components for our story telling performance are beginning to come together. This week the children worked with the residents to paint and then decorate the birds in the story. Using acrylic paints to give a base colour and then feathers added for detail. Finally many of the birds were attached to sticks so that they can “fly” through the trees. Some children used the hand sewing machine to finish off the leaves that we tacked together a few weeks ago. We have already completed the back drop so now we need to have some practice before performing to the other residents and our school choir.
In between all this creativity, Elizabeth told a story about an amazing pigeon that carried messages in the war which kept everyone entertained.
This has been a really interesting block of work and each week we have had more residents coming down and joining in the fun. It is so lovely to see Angel Court filling up with new residents who delight in making friends and working with our children. It is such a highlight to the week for everyone involved and we love to work with artists from Equal Arts who are so dedicated.
