Maths Investigation

This week, the children have been posed problems in maths where they have had to find their own method to work towards a solution.

Problem solving and having the resilience to keep going even when things aren’t immediately obvious are extremely difficult skills for children to develop. In maths, often the teaching helps lead to a method and children just need to apply that method to solve the problem. In this investigation, the children were given an open-ended problem and they had to use resources and their own reasoning to solve it. We were extremely impressed with their ingenuity and perseverance in finding solutions.
