This week in English, the boys and girls were keen to find out their new class text. They began by eagerly discussing the clues – a necklace, a sharp piece of rock and images of cave paintings. They predicted the shapes on the necklace were bones and teeth. They then used their listening skills to follow instructions and got creative making their own necklace before revealing the story … Stone Age Boy!
The children have since been exploring the author’s use of language and the images this creates in the reader’s mind. They used a thesaurus to find synonyms for the verb ‘walked’ and then wrote two of their own sentences to create contrasting pictures.
