Today the Rights Respecting Officers from each year group met with two members of the catering team from Gateshead Council.
Today the Rights Officers has the opportunity to meet with Susan and Andrea from Gateshead Council. They are part of the catering team who develop meals for all schools within Gateshead and have a job title of Operations Managers. Their job is to plan what the school menus will look like, liaise with suppliers and plan for any allergen free meals.
The aim of the meeting was to discuss their views on the current meals that are offered at lunchtime. The officers gave their opinions on favourite meals, meals they notice are disliked, options for future choices and developments that could be made. They enjoyed giving their opinions and being able to ask questions to better their understanding of what goes into planning school meals.
They are looking forward to seeing what meal choices will be selected for the 2025-2026 academic year menu based on their opinions, and especially looking forward to sampling the meals in a taste testing activity in the Summer Term this year. Watch this space!
