Celebrating Shrove Tuesday in Reception Class

This week in Reception Class, we joyfully celebrated Shrove Tuesday, a delightful tradition that marks the beginning of Lent.

To enhance our understanding of this special day, we read the story, Mr Wolf’s Pancakes. This engaging tale captivated the children’s imaginations and sparked their enthusiasm for pancakes.

After our reading session, the children relished the experience of tasting pancakes, a wonderful opportunity to engage their senses. They excitedly selected their favourite toppings, which included jam, honey, sugar, lemon, and chocolate.  The experience provided an excellent chance to discuss flavours and textures.

This delightful culinary experience not only fostered excitement about Shrove Tuesday but also encouraged the children to express their preferences and develop their fine motor skills as they spread and sprinkled their chosen toppings.
