This week Nursery enjoyed celebrating Shrove Tuesday!
We were very excited that it was Pancake Day in Nursery on Tuesday this week. We learnt that Pancake Day is celebrated in February or March each year to mark the beginning of Lent. During Lent we often give up something as a Lenten promise. Some people give up chocolate, cake, crisps etc but many years ago people gave up eggs, flour and milk. These three ingredients are needed to make pancakes!
We enjoyed mixing the ingredients with a whisk, watching our teachers flip them in the frying pan and, of course, taste testing them during snack. We had toppings of sugar, lemon and honey. When outside we took part in pancake races using frying pans and pancakes. We enjoyed racing against our friends and even practiced flipping pretend pancakes and catching them again in the frying pan.
