This term in PE, the boys and girls have been developing their volleyball skills, learning the key techniques and teamwork needed to play the game. Each week, they have built on their abilities, progressing from fundamental skills to more advanced gameplay. They began by focusing on different types of underarm and overarm throws which allowed them to improve their throwing and catching skills accurately. As their confidence grew, they practiced the ‘dig shot’ learning how to use their forearms to pass the ball effectively. They also worked on getting into position, ensuring they could move quickly to meet the ball. The children then learned how to send the ball accurately using controlled volleys and underarm serves, developing both their precision and power. Finally, the boys and girls put all of their skills into action during small-sided games demonstrating the skills they had developed, communication and team work.
