This week, Year 5 have been learning about the different climates and biomes experienced across Earth.
Earlier this week, the children were introduced to the six different climates across the globe. Using different colours, the children identified where you would find polar, temperate, arid, mediterranean, tropical, mountainous climates, across the world, on a map. The children understood the difference between weather and climates is the length of time each one is experienced, with weather being day-to-day patterns and climates being for longer periods of time.
Then, the children were introduced to biomes. Biomes are areas of our planet which experience similar climates. The children watched videos on the seven different biomes and wrote notes about what temperatures and rainfall can be expected in each biome and also what wildlife and vegetation can be found there.
