Thriller!

In PE, Year Two have been learning a dance to Thriller by Michael Jackson.

To begin, the children found out that music can be counted in beats of eight. The boys and girls listened to the song and practised counting the beats. Throughout the dance, the children had to move their body to represent a zombie and practised how they thought it would move – slowly, arms outstretched, head to one side. Once they had got into character, the children were ready to start learning the dance.

At the start of the song, the children lay on their backs with their arms crossed across their chest. They had to listen carefully to the music and sit up when they heard a door creak. For a section of the dance, the children had to perform an action one after the other. This was called a canon.

As the dance went on, the children (or zombies) moved quicker as they came back to life. While dancing, the children had to listen carefully to the music to ensure they moved in time to the beat.
